Long Term, Low Carb Diets Not Superior to Other Diets

All low-carbohydrate diets are not created the same and more rigorous trials are required.

The researchers at Stanford University’s School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California, who are behind the recent review of the benefits of low carbohydrate diets found many issues with the benefits and risks and consider these approaches to be controversial and unresolved, particularly for very-low carbohydrate diets (VLCD). They also concluded that beyond a six month period, the benefits of low carb diets diminish and that long-term weight loss and management isn’t any better than any other diets.
